Battleship: Predictive Analysis Variant
Objective
Sink all the opponent’s ships while managing dynamic ship placement. Players must eliminate the impossible while avoiding the impossible themselves.
Setup
- Grid Size: 10×10 grid
- One grid for your ships
- One grid for tracking the opponent’s shots
- Ships (standard set):
- 1 Aircraft Carrier (5 spaces)
- 1 Battleship (4 spaces)
- 1 Submarine (3 spaces)
- 1 Cruiser (3 spaces)
- 1 Destroyer (2 spaces)
- Ships are not placed at the start of the game
Gameplay
1. Ship Placement
- No initial ship placement
- Ships are placed during the game only when needed
- Ships must:
- Be placed horizontally or vertically
- Not overlap
- Not extend off the grid
2. Calling Shots
- Players take turns calling a grid position (e.g., “E5”)
- The opponent declares whether it is a hit or a miss
3. Ship Sinks
- Declare a ship as sunk once all its positions are hit
- No need to identify which ship was sunk—just declare that a ship is sunk
4. Legal Ship Placement
- Players must ensure ships are legally placed at all times
- No overlaps
- No off-grid placement
- If a player cannot place all ships legally, they lose the game
Winning
- The first player to sink all of their opponent’s ships wins
- If a player cannot legally place all ships at any point, they lose
In “Battleship: Predictive Analysis Variant,” players manage dynamic ship positions, adapt strategies, and predict their opponent’s next move. This variant has flexible placement and delayed sinking.
